Irene Cieraad (1952), anthropologist by training, has contributed to the Dutch project on the 20th-century history of technology in the Netherlands. She was engaged in the Consumption section of the Tensions of Europe (phase I) and hopes to contribute to the volume Ruth Oldenziel and Karin Zachmann have planned on consumption in the Cold War Era. She is an appointed researcher at the TU Delft (for two days a week) for the section Interior Architecture and Design, Faculty of Architecture, she is also the co-ordinator of the staff's research. She has published books and articles on the anthropology of domestic space, household technology, material culture and consumption.
