Biographical Sketch

Constantin Cornita is university professor at the Universitatea de Nord”, Baia Mare, where he holds a chair in ethnology and anthropology. He is both a philologist and an ethnologist by formation. At the present, his core scientific interests are ethnology and folklore, which concretized in the publication of numerous recent studies and monographs on Maramures County: Sociologia folclorului. Ciclul vietii si manifestari calendaristice, (Umbria, 2001), Zona Maramures. Matricea etnologica si paradigma folclorica maramureseana (Umbria, 2001), Zona Lapus. Constributii etnologice si antropologice (Umbria, 2001), Etnografia. Consideratii generale (Umbria, 2004), co-author of the Corpusul folkloric maramuresean I. , (Umbria, 2004).
