Special issue ‘Commons created by technology: The radio spectrum'

In February 2011 a special issue of the International Journal of the Commons, entitled ‘Commons created by technology: The radio spectrum' was published. The special issue was guest edited by Erling Berge (Department of Landscape Architecture and Spatial Planning, Norwegian University of Life Sciences) and and Eda Kranakis (Department of History, University of Ottawa). The editorial 'Technology-dependent commons: the radio spectrum' can be downloaded here. This issue includes the paper 'Technology-dependent commons: the example of frequency spectrum for broadcasting in Europe in the 1920s' by Nina Wormbs of the Royal Institute of Technology (Stockholm, Sweden), and the paper 'Property rights on a Cold War battlefield: managing broadcasting transmissions through the Iron Curtain' by Christian Henrich-Franke of the Institut für Europäische Regionalforschungen (University of Siegen, Germany).
