| Short biography | Jaume Valentines-Álvarez (Barcelona, 1977) is a post-doc researcher at the Centre for the History of Science and Technology in Lisbon (CIUHCT) and assistant professor at the Nova University of Lisbon. He holds a degree in Industrial Engineering (2002), a degree in History (2005) and a PhD in History of Science (2012). He has recently been visiting scholar at the Max Planck Institute for the History of Science (2017). His current works deal with the entanglement of nationalism, technocracy and crises in Southern Europe, the tensions of technocracy, acracy and revolution during the Spanish Civil War, the fascist and toxic legacies of the Iberian dictatorships, and fun and violence as resistances to large-scale technologies.
