Short biography

Christian Zumbrägel is a research/teaching assistant at the Institute of History at the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT) (Prof. Dr. Heike Weber). Apart from his research and teaching activities, he is managing-editor of the Journal of the History of Science, Technology and Medicine (NTM).
From 2013 to 2016 Christian was a research/teaching assistant in history of technology at the Technical University of Darmstadt, the Bergische University Wuppertal and Scholar in Residence at the Deutsche Museum (Munich). His research interests are mostly from the field of the history of technology and environmental history, e.g. energy technologies, infrastructures, resource use and river histories of Germany and Europe in the 19th and 20th century.
He recently finished his PhD-thesis at the Technical University of Darmstadt. This project focuses on the history of small-scale hydropower in Germany during the period of electrification (1880-1930) (see: https://www.schoeningh.de/katalog/titel/978-3-506-78746-0.html).
